7 Ways To Be Sure You Get To The Gym In The AM

I absolutely LOVE sleep. I’m the kind of person that needs at least 7-8 hours of sleep to function the whole next day. On the other hand, I also LOOOVE waking up early, having my 10 minute journal session, and heading to the gym and back before 9 am. Some days it can be tougher than others to get that will power to get your booty out of that cozy bed. However, luckily there are ways to train your brain and prep for that early morning gym session!

If you are the kind of person who needs to workout in the morning or it will never get done, these tips are for you.


Keep your blinds open!

Rise & shine! Although sleeping with your blinds wide open may not be the best for privacy, but natural light will help you to wake up and get up. Try to avoid wearing eye masks or having blackout curtains as they will make you oversleep. If you are someone that has no windows in your room (pro tip: get a bedroom with windows) you can purchase a sunrise alarm clock from Amazon which uses light to wake you up!





Mentally check in that you are going first thing in the morning!

Your mind is a powerful thing! You can do anything you set your mind to! Okay you get it. We have tendencies to plan our day the night before, so planning the gym first thing should also be included. If you convince yourself that you are going to “see how you feel in the morning” it’s almost guaranteed you’ll talk yourself out of it and hit snooze. Get excited to hit start the day in a healthy, active way! Know that it’s proactive to do it first thing so you don’t have to try to squeeze it in later when your day gets hectic.


Write out your workout the night before!

So this goes along with the last tip. The night before you should prepare for the next day, and that includes preparing your workout routine so you aren’t wasting time figuring out what your workout will be.


Lay out your clothes the night before!

You see a trend here…the night before is very important! This tip will take the time out of the morning looking through your dressers trying to find that one sports bra you need to match that other one pair of shorts. Laying them out for you to see when you wake up will also be another big reminder that you are wanting to be your best self!


Keep a packed gym bag available!

Bring your days’ worth of makeup, clothes, and work/school items in a bag ready to go so you can start your day right after your workout. Hopefully, you have a gym that has showers and hairdryers so you can save the time from driving back to the house to then start your day. If not, maybe consider upgrading! You deserve it girl!

I am very guilty of this and will most likely be ordering an alarm clock after I finish this paragraph. Especially if it’s something that you keep with you the entire day. Time to go back to the good old fashioned alarm clock.
